Our sports sponsorship program has a strong emphasis on junior development, with particular focus on supporting activities conducted in Tasmanian schools.

Aurora's aim is to encourage young people to explore and develop their talents and to benefit from participation – regardless of whether or not they go on to become champions.

Aurora Stadium at York Park

Aurora Energy has taken its strong commitment to Tasmanian sport to a new level, in a long term agreement reached with the Launceston City Council to secure sponsorship at Tasmania's AFL venue.

Aurora Stadium is currently the sole location for AFL football in Tasmania. It also hosts VFL football, as well as regional football and many other sporting and entertainment events.

Aurora Sports Stadium

Aurora Sports Stadium is located at Creek Road, Moonah in the south of the state. It is primarily used for netball, which is one of the most popular games played by women in Australia.

The support of the stadium follows a long partnership with the Aurora Netball League, which encourages sporting excellence at a more senior level.

Aurora Footy in Schools Program

This program is managed by the Tasmanian Football Development Foundation and has received Aurora's support since it began in 1998.

The program employs seven full time development officers who conduct clinics over a period of five weeks for boys and girls between 8–10 years. The program also provides 'in service' training for class and physical education teachers who support the clinics.

The main objective of this primary school program is to focus on motor coordination and skill development in Australian Rules football. The Tasmanian Football Development Foundation can be contacted on (03) 6234 9177.

Aurora Basketball in Schools Program

This program is managed by Basketball Tasmania and is well placed to give students and teachers a valuable opportunity to develop skills in a sport that has gained increased popularity among young Tasmanians over the past decade.

Tasmanian Little Athletics Association

Aurora is Tasmanian Little Athletics Association's major sponsor and is a sponsor of the Aurora State Championships.

Little Athletics offers a sporting activity to over 2500 boys and girls aged between 5 and 12 per year. Sessions operate each Saturday morning from the beginning of October to the end of February each year, culminating in the State Championships.

Aurora Netball League

Aurora is a sponsor of the Tasmanian Netball League's statewide competition that commenced in 2000. The sponsorship encourages the pursuit of excellence in what is the state's highest profile women's sport.
