Thursday, 1 April 2010Power upgrade for Burnie-Penguin area Aurora Energy customers in parts of Burnie and Penguin can expect greater reliability in their power supply following a $650,000 upgrade to electricity infrastructure in the area.
Work on the project will begin in mid-April and be completed by early June 2010. The work includes maintenance and upgrading of existing high voltage lines, poles and components, new switchgear, automated switches and protection devices.
Customers will be affected by the upgrade in Griffith St, Madden St, Bennett St, Thorne St, Crudwell St, Colegrave St, Sorrell St, Roslyn Ave, Blackwood Pde, Collins St, Pine Ave, Mount St, West St, Deacon St, Queen St, West Park Grove, Seaview Ave, Richardson Cres. and the Bass Highway between Burnie and Cooee.
Due to the scale of the project and the number of trucks and crews working in these areas, traffic control measures will be put in place to minimise disruption to motorists.
Aurora line workers will work on live power lines, where possible, to minimise disruptions to power supplies. However, outages of between four and seven hours will occur in some areas. All customers affected by any planned interruption will receive notification in their letterboxes at least four days in advance.
Aurora thanks customers in advance for their patience and apologises for any inconvenience that may result from the work to improve services in these areas.
Customers who have questions about this power upgrade can contact Aurora on 13 2004.
