Theft from Aurora poles Aurora crews have worked through Easter Saturday to make repairs following a spate of wire thefts from power poles.
Customers in the Fingerpost Road, Grasstree Hill Road, Malcolms Hut Road, Carlton River Road and Colebrook Road between Richmond and Campania may have experienced brief interruptions to their power supplies today as a result. There are several households still without power at present.
Aurora has become aware that similar thefts have occurred in the Gellibrand Road area of Sandford and are currently investigating and making repairs where necessary there and at South Arm, Cremorne and Clifton. They expect to move into the Lauderdale area tomorrow (Easter Sunday).
Customers in these areas may experience an interruption to their power supply of between 5 and 10 minutes while the wire is replaced. Aurora apologises for this inconvenience and says that while this type of incident is rare and should not cause concern to customers, people should:
· report any suspicious activity around power poles to the Police; · keep well clear of power poles that look like they have a wire dangling from them; and · report any tingling from taps or other metal appliances in their homes immediately to Aurora on 132004.
