Tasmanian gas supply
Aurora Energy Tamar Valley Power (AETV Power) is working to minimise the impact of a major, unexpected reduction in gas supplies to Tasmania following maintenance works required on an offshore platform by Esso BHP.

Esso BHP advised AETV Power, which takes more than 90 per cent of Tasmania’s gas supply, late yesterday of a potential two-week reduction in supply during the maintenance works.

Extra gas supplies have been secured for customers today from Esso BHP and Aurora Energy is working urgently to meet customers’ needs during the supply reduction period.

Provided there is no further deterioration in the Esso BHP gas supply, Aurora expects it will be able to meet all requirements of our gas customers over the next two weeks.

The gas supply shortfall will be met as a result of the AETV Power Station being turned down to ensure the gas needs of our customers are met as a priority.
