Network tariffs
Tasmania entered the National Electricity Market in 2005 and from July 2008 customers with consumption greater than 0.75 GWh are able to purchase electricity from the retailer of their choice. Over time more customers will be given the option of choosing their preferred electricity retailer.
This means that a number of customers may be receiving their electricity accounts from a retailer other than Aurora Energy. Aurora will remain essentially the only provider of distribution services in Tasmania. Customers will receive a bill from the retailer of their choice that includes a charge from Aurora for the use of the distribution system (poles, wires, cables, etc.).
Network tariffs are required to enable Aurora to calculate the charge for the use of the distribution system. Aurora has released the following network tariffs which are applicable from 1 January 2008.
