Discounts and concessions
Healthcare and electricity concessionThis electricity discount is available to Centrelink Health Care card holders and is administered by Aurora Energy on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services. The discount is 85.43 cents per day all year round and eligible customers do not need to reapply each year. It is not possible to receive this discount in conjunction with the pensioner electricity concession. You can apply for the concession or ask any questions by contacting Aurora Energy on 1800 15 0679. Pensioner electricity concessionOnline pensioner & health care card discount application. The pensioner concession is given to Tasmanian pensioners who have a Pensioner Concession Card issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans Affairs. It is administered by Aurora Energy on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services. Pensioners need only register for this electricity discount once. You will continue to receive the pensioner rebate of 85.43 cents per day all year round and do not need to reapply each year. It is not possible to receive the healthcare card concession in conjunction with the pensioner electricity concession. You can register for this concession by completing the online pensioner & health care card discount application or calling our Customer Service Centre on 1300 132 003, Monday to Friday between 7 am - 7 pm, and Saturday 9 am - 12 noon. Heating allowance rebateA means tested heating allowance is available at a rate of $56 per year to assist eligible pensioners with their cost of heating. A payment of $28 is paid twice a year in May and September. This scheme is not limited to electricity as the energy source and is not administered by Aurora Energy. The heating allowance is administered by the Department of Health and Human Services and enquiries should be made to 1800 300 068. Life support discountAurora Energy provides an electricity discount to customers who use an approved life support system, or live with someone who uses one. The discount is about fifty per cent of the cost to run the life support system. The approved life support systems and cents per day discounts, as from 1 July 2008 are as follows:
Please phone 1300 13 2003 and advise us if you stop using the life support system, or if you change your address. To apply for this discount, you need to fill in the life support application form (PDF 19kB). A hospital officer or your doctor is required to complete a section of this form.
