Electricity rates and charges

Effective from 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009.

The following electricity rates and charges are available for private residential dwellings. They do not apply to tourist or hostel accommodation or commercial premises.

Standard residential rates

* a minimum output of 3.5 kW in the main living area applies for space heating under HydroHeat.
Off-peak with afternoon boost period – Tariff 61

*available for a period of at least 9 hours between 8 pm of every day and 7 am of the following day and 2 hours between 1 pm – 4.30 pm of every day.
Off-Peak, night period only – Tariff 62

Explanatory notes

Fixed Charges consist of meter reading, billing costs, part of the meter capital cost and some of the costs of maintaining and connecting to the electricity distribution system.

Energy Rate is the charge for each unit of electricity (kWh) that covers the cost of generating the electricity and some of the transmission and distribution costs.

Quarter means a period of 91 days.

Pensioner Rebate of 85.43c a day is provided by Aurora to eligible Pensioners as a community service obligation which is funded by the State Government.

Goods and Services Tax (GST): prices include GST.
