Irrigation Calculator
This calculator is designed for customers who are currently using the irrigation tariffs (Tariff 73/74), where the day/night consumption can be read from the bill. Tariff 73 is night-time consumption and Tariff 74 is day-time consumption.
However, if you're using another tariff (e.g. Tariff 22), and you have a good idea of how many day-time and how many night-time hours your pump operates, you can estimate the respective consumptions for the hours of use.
Ideally, you should include consumption from at least four bills to give an indication of annual costs. The calculator will produce results for a single bill, but the cost comparison may not truly reflect the annual position, because of the high seasonality in irrigation consumption.
The relevant tariff prices and conditions can be viewd on our rates and charges page
* These results assume that, when the pump is in use, it achieves a load factor of 25% and a power factor of 75%. It also assumes that the demand charge will only apply in respect of the day-time consumption. To the extent that the load and power factor values are exceeded the costs will be lower than shown, and vice versa. These are conservative assumptions which we would expect usually to be met or exceeded. However, before considering a switch to this tariff it would be advisable to have an energy expert measure the actual load and power factors and when the maximum demand occurs.
