How to connect to renewable energy
The steps below outline the process for getting your renewable energy system up and running.
- First you will need to talk to a supplier or installer. (Aurora has Aurora Preferred Renewable Energy Suppliers who can assist, or you can find accredited installers at the Clean Energy Council website (external link).)
- The installer will provide you with a system design and written quote. If you wish to proceed, the installer will send your Connection Application to Aurora.
- Once Aurora receives the Connection Application, and assesses that it meets appropriate technical standards and requirements, they will send you an Offer to Connect and a Connection Agreement. You need to sign these before your system can be installed.
- Your electrical contractor will install your system.
- After installation your supplier or electrical contractor will submit an Electrical Work Request (EWR) and an Electrical Installation Notification (EIN) to Aurora.
- Aurora will match up the signed Connection Agreement and EWR and a digital import-export meter will be fitted within 10 working days. Once the meter has been installed Aurora Network will notify your electrical contractor that the system can be activated. (If your meter has not been replaced after 10 working days from the installation of your system, please contact Aurora Energy on 1300 13 2003.)
- Your electrical contractor will activate your system.
