Are the merchant fees (credit card surcharge) interest-free as part of TEELS?
The merchant fees (credit card surcharge) must be included on the quote(s) to be interest-free. If the credit card surcharge is not included on the quote(s), it will not be interest-free.
How long will I have to submit my TEELS request?
Due to its overwhelming popularity, the TEELS for households and small businesses has been extended and will now run 30 April 2019, or until the additional $20 million finance pool is exhausted.
Given the strong interest in the scheme so far, we recommend you submit your TEELS request soon to avoid missing out.
How often are my repayments?
Monthly. Westpac will talk you through all finance details at your appointment.
What if I have payment difficulties during that period?
You will need to speak directly to Westpac about your financial arrangements to determine what support is available to meet your individual circumstances.
Can you apply for TEELS if you are not an Aurora Energy customer?
Yes. However, the product(s) to be purchased must be for your home or small business premises in Tasmania.
I have a Concession Card - can I apply for TEELS?
Yes. However, if you have a State Government Concession card, you can apply for funding from the No-Interest-Loan Scheme (NILS). We recommend you compare your options and visit www.nilstasmania.org.au
Can my partner and I both apply for TEELS for the one property?
Yes. Each individual will be assessed in their own right.
I’m a Tasmanian resident – can I install solar on my property in Western Australia?
No. The products must be installed at Tasmanian premises only.
Can I apply for TEELS now and again in 6 months’ time if I’ve paid off my finance early?
No. You can only apply once in the scheme duration.
Can I purchase multiple eligible products?
Yes. Provided they are on the eligible products list and you don’t exceed the maximum finance value in the application category.
Is the cost of delivery and / or installation interest-free as part of TEELS?
The cost of delivery and installation must be included on the quote(s) to be interest-free. If delivery and installation costs are not included on the quote(s), they will not be interest-free.
Who is responsible for getting product quote(s)?
It is the responsibility of the applicant to source quotes and take this information to the appointment with Westpac.
Who delivers and installs the products I purchase?
You are also responsible for arranging the delivery and/or installation of the product(s) at your property directly with the supplier (note: delivery and installation costs must be included in the quote to be interest-free).
Can I get quotes from suppliers that don’t operate in Tasmania?
No. Quotes are only valid if they come from a supplier that has been operating in Tasmania since 1 November 2016.
Does my installer/supplier need to be able to accept payment via credit card?
Yes. You will be required to pay for your product/appliance with your Westpac issued credit card. We suggest that you check that your preferred installer/supplier is able to accept payment by credit card at the same time you source your quote/s.
How do I know if I am eligible to apply as a ‘small business’?
This category is defined as a business premises that has energy usage of less than 150 MWh per annum.
Who is responsible for transactions which result from small business applications?
The small business owner will have personal liability for the credit card and as such will be responsible for all transactions and the balance owing on the credit card.
Can I submit two credit card applications – one residential and one small business?
No. You can only apply once in the scheme duration.
Will Aurora Energy be deciding if I receive finance?
No. Aurora Energy has no part in assessing financial eligibility and has no access to any financial information you provide to Westpac. Westpac will assess all applications via their standard processes and advise you directly of their decision.
What is the interest free period?
36 months. Only on eligible energy efficient products up to a value of $10,000. More information will be provided when you apply for the Westpac credit card.
Can I purchase a product for $15,000 and only borrow $10,000 (ie. I pay the remaining $5,000)?
Yes. Provided you don’t exceed the maximum finance amount for that category.
What happens if I don’t hear from Westpac?
When your TEELS request is verified, you will receive an email from Aurora Energy that provides contact details for Westpac.
If you have not heard back within the timeframe advised, we encourage you to contact Westpac directly.
How long will I have to submit my TEELS request?
Applications for TEELS (Small business purchases) are now closed. If your application was submitted before midnight on 1 May 2018, don’t worry, it will be submitted to Westpac and you will receive information about the outcome of your application, as per process outlined below.
Why is the TEELS request process for over $10,000 different?
Due to the size of the transactional amounts involved (between $10,001 to $40,000), it was necessary to develop a different scheme process with our TEELS financial partner, Westpac Banking Corporation (ABN 33 007 457 141).
For the over $10,000 applications, Capital Finance and their support supplier, Matrix, will be your point of contact.
Who is Capital Finance?
Capital Finance Australia Limited (ABN 23 069 663 136) is a 100% Westpac owned subsidiary company. As they have specific experience, systems and expertise in the business sector, they are Westpac’s preferred business to support the over $10K component of TEELS.
For TEELS applications, Capital Finance will be supported by their service provider, Matrix, to process and assist customers with their application.
Who is Matrix?
Matrix Support Services Pty Ltd (ACN 143 441 027) is the selected external service provider to Capital Finance and helps streamline the credit application process. Matrix will help you (as the customer/borrower), to navigate the credit application process. When your TEELS request is verified, you will recieve an email from Aurora Energy that provides contact details for Matrix.
Who will I speak to about my TEELS application?
The team at Matrix is very experienced in helping borrowers with their credit application and should be your first point of contact for questions about your application.

Who makes payment to the supplier / installer?
Capital Finance will make payment on your behalf. Capital Finance will need signed documents (via Docusign electronic signing) and the original invoice with all relevant details before making payment.
What details need to be on my supplier’s invoice to ensure it is valid?
On its invoice, your supplier / installer must include its ABN, the specific installation address and the entity the invoice is payable by (i.e. the name of the small business).
What happens if I fall behind on my repayments under TEELS?
Capital Finance will contact you if you fall behind in your payments to discuss your situation. Please be aware that non-payment could result in you being in default of your loan contract, default interest being charged and a default being registered on the credit record of the borrower and guarantors.
How often are my repayments?
Your repayments will be made monthly by direct debit, which will be arranged after the loan is approved. Matrix will be available to answer your questions about your loan documentation and arrangements.

No. As the small business entity is credit assessed by Capital Finance and liable for all activities relating to the loan, only one application per business is considered eligible.

Can my small business purchase multiple eligible products?
Yes – provided they are on the eligible products list, you don’t exceed $40,000 in required finance, and you make only one application to the scheme.
Can my small business purchase eligible products for different premises?
Yes – provided they are on the eligible products list, the application is under a small business name that has submitted only one application, and you don’t exceed $40,000 in required finance.

The cost of delivery and installation must be included on the quote(s) to be eligible for finance from Capital Finance and to be interest-free. If delivery and installation costs are not included on the quote(s), they will not be financed under this scheme and will not be interest-free.

What is the loan payback period?
Up to 5 years and only for finance on eligible energy efficient products between $10,001 and $40,000. More information will be provided when you discuss your application with Matrix.
Can my small business purchase a product for $25,000 and only borrow $20,000 (i.e. I pay the remaining $5,000)?
Yes. Provided you don’t exceed the maximum finance amount of $40,000. This will need to be made clear to Matrix and Capital Finance at the time of the application with deposit or part payment noted on the invoice to avoid any confusion with the supplier.
