A range of discounts and payments are available to help eligible Tasmanians pay for their electricity bills. Read below for eligibility requirements, discount rates and application details.

The Tasmanian Government has partnered with the Commonwealth Government to provide eligible households with $250 of targeted electricity bill rebates annually over two years. The first rebate will be applied to customer bills in the second half of the 2023 calendar year.
Customers who already receive the Annual Electricity Concession do not need to apply for the rebate, it will be added to your account automatically.
Customers with a DVA gold card can apply with us.
Customers who have a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, Family Tax Benefit A & B or a Carers Allowance, you will be contacted by the relevant Commonwealth Agency between July and September to advise what action you will need to take to register.
There will be 4 payments of $125 made to your Aurora Energy account.

For your household to be eligible for the rebate, the electricity account holder must, as of 01 July 2023, be a recipient or holder of the following benefit or card types:

If you haven't got a concession card yet, apply for one now and ensure your concession information is updated before 01 July 2023. Get a concession card at concessions.tas.gov.au
If you are eligible for the annual electricity concession but do not currently receive it, please complete the Annual Electricity Concession Application Form to register using the Online Web Form or Download and Print PDF
If you don't have an electricity account because the account is in the name of another person in your household, you need to transfer the account to your name in order to receive the rebate. You can do this by getting in touch with our team
If you don't have an electricity account because you don't receive electricity from an electricity retailer and are on an embedded network (for instance, you receive electricity via your landlord in a caravan park or retirement home or village), you are still eligible and will need to apply for the rebate. More information on applying will be made available in the coming weeks at recfit.tas.gov.au

The electricity concession provides eligible customers with a daily discount of 172.434 cents. We administer the concession on behalf of the Tasmanian Government.

Seniors cards are not eligible for the annual electricity concession.
The life support concession is a daily discount. This concession can only be claimed once for your primary place of residence, however, if you have more than one life support device you may be able to claim the discount for each eligible device.
The Life Support Concession is for customers who use an approved life support system or who live with someone who uses one.
The approved devices and rates per day are:

The medical cooling or heating concession is a daily discount if you have, or live with, a person who has, a medical condition that requires cooling or heating of your home (principal place of residence) to manage that condition.
The current concession is 51.648 cents per day.
The electricity account holder must have an eligible Pension Concession Card or Health Care Card to qualify for the medical cooling or heating concession.

It’s important to note that all the discounts only apply to your home (principal place of residence on a general domestic energy tariff) – and can’t be used for holiday homes, businesses or by landlords renting out their property.

You can call us with your concession card details or send in a concession card discount application form if you have one of the following concession cards:
· Pensioner Concession Card (Services Australia or Veterans Affairs)
· Health Care Card
· ImmiCard (Bridging Visa E)
You can see if your concession has been added to your account on the usage page of your app.
Go to the usage screen, click the 'Amount in dollars' tab, and scroll down to the 'your daily cost' block. Your concession will be visible under 'other'.
