Tasmanians can access federal STC rebates, and battery storage incentives to cut the cost of installing solar panels.
As of 1 October 2025, there are several grants and subsidies available in Tasmania that could help support you financially with the installation of solar panels:
Under the Federal Government's Small-Scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), you can receive STCs for installing solar panels. These certificates can be traded for a financial benefit, effectively reducing the upfront cost of your solar system. For more information visit, the Federal Government's web page online: www.energy.gov.au/rebates/renewable-power-incentives
If you install a battery storage system along with your solar panels, you may be eligible for other additional incentives. These systems can help you store excess solar energy for use during peak times and further increase your household savings.
To take advantage of these programs, ensure your solar installer is accredited by the Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) and complies with all relevant standards and regulations.
