WHAT ARE ‘POWER HOURS’?
‘Power Hours’ are an offer of free electricity through aurora+, in which eligible Aurora Energy customers will be given the opportunity to use unlimited electricity, free of charge during a selected time slot (Power Hours). Further details regarding eligibility, conditions of participation, and how electricity usage will be calculated and credited to participating customers’ accounts are set out below.
WHEN ARE POWER HOURS AVAILABLE?
From time to time, Aurora Energy may offer you Power Hours (conditionally or unconditionally at Aurora Energy’s absolute discretion), which you can accept through the aurora+ app. These Power Hours may be offered during set times as determined by Aurora Energy (Offer Period). Aurora Energy may communicate an offer of Power Hours (including the Offer Period and any specific conditions) in advance through the aurora+ app or via a customer’s preferred form of communication (where Aurora Energy has your express or implied consent to contact you).
HOW DO POWER HOURS WORK?
During the relevant Offer Period, eligible customers who are offered and accept Power Hours in accordance with these terms and conditions will not be charged for any electricity they consume at their selected property during their selected time slot.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?
All current Aurora Energy residential customers who have an active aurora+ account will be eligible to be offered Power Hours for one property per aurora+ account.
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
Enrolment
Eligible customers who are offered Power Hours by Aurora Energy will be able to participate by logging into their aurora+ account and following the Power Hours prompts. In doing so, eligible customers will be:
Once a time slot and property has been selected in the aurora+ app, they will be able to be edited up to five minutes before the commencement of the time slot.
Promotions
From time-to-time Aurora Energy may offer exclusive Offer Periods to specific eligible customers for reasons including marketing purposes, promotions and/or competitions (“Exclusive Offer Period(s)”).
By accepting an Exclusive Offer Period, a customer is deemed to:
HOW WILL MY POWER HOURS USAGE AND CREDIT BE CALCULATED?
Actual Usage
Aurora Energy will calculate how much electricity customers actually used during their selected time slot using data collected from their advanced meter and aurora+. A credit will then be calculated based on actual usage at the applicable tariff rate and applied to the customer’s next bill (or the following bill if there is any delay in receiving actual usage data).
Estimated Usage
If for any reason Aurora Energy is unable to calculate actual electricity usage within 28 days after the end of the relevant Offer Period, a ‘fixed credit’ will be applied to the customer’s next bill. The fixed credit will be equal to the cost the customer would incur if they consumed the maximum amount of electricity available to a 63 amps residential property at the applicable tariff rate. If a customer is on a flat rate tariff, the fixed credit will be calculated at the higher (‘lights and power’) tariff rate. This will ensure participating customers are not unfairly disadvantaged if their actual usage data doesn’t become available within a reasonable time.
OTHER TERMS & CONDITIONS
Force Majeure
In the case of any event occurring that is outside the reasonable control of Aurora Energy including but not limited to vandalism, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest and strikes (Force Majeure Event) that impacts Aurora Energy’s ability to provide Power Hours, Aurora Energy may in its absolute discretion cancel the Power Hours (or part thereof) affected by the Force Majeure Event. If Aurora Energy cancels Power Hours due to a Force Majeure Event, it will notify those customers who are affected by the cancellation as soon as possible.
Variations
Aurora Energy reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions in its sole discretion at any time.
Precedence
In addition to these terms and conditions, your Aurora Energy customer contract (for example, Aurora Energy’s Residential Standard Retail Contract) and the aurora+ terms and conditions apply. If these terms and conditions are inconsistent with other such applicable terms and conditions, then these terms and conditions will prevail but only to the extent of the inconsistency (and to the extent permitted by law), except to the extent that these terms and conditions are inconsistent with your Aurora Energy customer contract, then your Aurora Energy customer contract will prevail.
