Fostering Tasmanian start-ups

At Aurora Energy we’re passionate about supporting passionate Tasmanians.

Our ongoing partnership with Enterprize, the lead organisation supporting Tassie start-ups, aligns with our commitment to partnering with non-profit organisations to produce practical and long-term benefits for the community.

Our contribution to the partnership centres on supporting a number of Enterprize run programs and to tailor the delivery of these programs to maximise the benefits to the Tasmanian community and Aurora Energy.

We provide ongoing funding to Enterprize to operate and tailor a number of entrepreneurial, start-up, and micro business support programs in Tasmania.

We also encourage our people to get involved in Enterprize programs. Aurora employees provide expertise through a dedicated start-up mentor program, facilitating professional development sessions for the participants, and ongoing engagement.

These programs promote Tasmanian entrepreneurs and businesses solving problems relevant to the state, including ways to take advantage of the competitive advantage in renewable energy. The partnership provides a further boost to business growth, and more generally increasing business activity and employment in the economy.

Enterprize’s flagship program, the Born Global Incubator, was piloted in 2018 and has run a cohort every six months since the beginning of 2020. Over 14 weeks, selected teams are run through a rapid course in lean start-up methodology, then assisted through build sprints to begin to validate product-market fit. Enterprize will support the selected teams to continue the development of their idea and bring it to market.

We’ve been hugely impressed by the calibre on innovation and passion in Tasmania through the Enterprize programs and we look forward to seeing the benefits to the community.
