Aurora Energy is the nominated Retailer of Last Resort (or RoLR) for Tasmania through the National Electricity Retail Law (NERL).
The nomination of a RoLR offers consumer protection for customers in retail markets where there are two or more retailers providing electricity to consumers. It means that you will always have access to power, even if your retailer ceases to operate.
More information on how a RoLR event will be managed and coordinated is available from the Australian Energy Regulator.
Important information for Elysian Energy customers
On 30th August 2022, Elysian Energy Pty Ltd (Elysian Energy) was placed under external administration and can no longer supply its customers with electricity.
If you are a customer of Elysian Energy, you will not be disconnected.
As Tasmania's Retailer of Last Resort, your account will be transferred to Aurora Energy as of 2 September 2022. You'll be sent a letter to confirm with information regarding your energy plan and product options.

Most Aurora customers are on a Standing Offer Agreement which means prices are set by the independent Tasmanian Economic Regulator.
