Empowering Tassie: Aurora staff hit 1800+ hours of community service

Published on

As Tasmanians ourselves, we have a unique opportunity to make a difference in our community that we don't want to waste!

Aurora Energy offers its employees two days of community service leave each year. This enables staff to build trust and connection in our community through doing good. Tasmanians are not just our customers, they are our family, friends, and neighbours; and we're committed to ensuring we all have a community to be proud of now and into the future.

This year, Aurora Energy set a target of spending 1500 hours volunteering in our community.

We are proud to say that our staff spent a total of 1853 hours volunteering in the 2023-24 financial year. That's the equivalent of having a full-time employee actively supporting the community for 49 weeks!

Some of our volunteer hours were spent baking up a storm with Aurora Disability, working a production line for breakfast sandwiches at the Salvation Army, packing snack packs, and giving blood to save lives. Our people were thrilled to be able to work alongside local organisations making an impact in the lives of Tasmanians.

Our 2023-24 community highlights include:

  • 32,720 ANZAC biscuits baked in April to support Aurora Disability.

  • 42 Bags of Hope donated by Aurora Staff to help the Salvos.

  • 60 blood donations made by Team Aurora saving 189 lives.

  • $4879 raised to support the Salvos Sleep Out.

  • 1853 hours spent volunteering in the Tassie community.

Well done to all our Hobart and Launnie staff who took the time to roll up their sleeves for their community! See the photos below of some of the team in action.
