Tasmania's only two signatories to the Energy Charter have shown their commitment to prioritising customer outcomes in the best interests of their community.
For the first time the two Tasmanian energy businesses held a customer forum asking for feedback on their annual Disclosures, hosted by both CEOs.
The national Energy Charter is a world-first voluntary commitment focussed on providing energy in line with community expectations.
The Disclosures describe the customer outcomes that have been demonstrated by each business against the Energy Charter’s five key principles to 30 June 2022, and highlights areas of continuous improvement that it has identified for the coming 12 months.
Aurora CEO Rebecca Kardos said the retailer was committed to helping deliver a more affordable, reliable and sustainable energy system.
“This year’s Disclosure highlights our commitment to our customers and our community, including our ongoing support for business and residential customers, the removal of the aurora+ product service fee and the development of a Family and Domestic Violence policy,” Mrs Kardos said.
“We have been a strong supporter of the Energy Charter since its inception. Our business is committed to the success of this important whole-of-sector initiative aimed at putting the customer at the centre of businesses and delivering better outcomes for them.”
TasNetworks CEO Sean McGoldrick added: “As a recent signatory to the Energy Charter, TasNetworks is pleased to join Aurora in putting Tasmanian electricity customers first.
“It’s our role to connect Tasmanians with safe, reliable and affordable electricity and accelerate progress towards a clean energy future.
“By embedding the Energy Charter Principles in our business, we’ve committed to focusing on the priorities and expectations of our customers and ensuring the decisions and we make today are helping to secure that future,” he said.
Feedback will be published online and is vital in focusing each businesses’ forward customer strategies and to assist with their continuous improvement against each principle.
