Customers in need of an extra hand to pay their winter energy bill are being encouraged to get in touch with Aurora Energy.

Winter is typically a period of high energy use, as many Tasmanians turn the temperature up on their heaters to keep their homes warm, use their clothes dryers more often, or spend an extra few minutes in a hot shower to beat the morning chill.

Average monthly energy consumption during the winter months is 61 per cent higher than for non-winter months.

Aurora Energy Manager Customer Operations, Craig McKinlay, expects some customers will face bill stress and said it was important to seek assistance if you find yourself in that situation.

“We understand from time-to-time customers’ need an extra hand staying on top of their bills and that’s exactly what our Your Energy Support or YES program is here for,” Mr McKinlay said.

“The YES program is available to help customers take control of their energy usage and bill with energy saving advice and affordable payment plans.

“Since its creation in 2014, our local YES team has assisted over 9,900 customers, and we encourage those customers having trouble keeping up with paying their energy bill to get in touch with us.”

Aurora Energy also has a range of payment options available to help customers budget and stay in control of their energy costs, including the option to pay a regular, pre-agreed amount each month.
